Black women are at a higher risk of sexual violence for many reasons, including the fact they live at the intersection of both race-based and gender-based violence. Our country has a long history of sexual violence against Black people and a continued practice of hypersexualization of those same Black people, leading others to discredit and disbelieve Black survivors.
